WI-MAX : WIMAX , the W orldwide I nteroperability for M icrowave Access, is a telecommunications technology aimed at providing wireless data over long distances such as 50 km with 70 Mbps in a variety of ways. Wi-Fi which is a more developed system is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard, which is also called Wireless MAN whereas present wireless internet access uses Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11.
